One motorcycle can be hard to see but when over 200 bikes ride together…that stops traffic and that’s exactly what happened.
Thank you to everyone who braved the chilly and very windy weather to come out and be seen and raise some road awareness, especially when it comes to motorcycles. The turn out was absolutely amazing with about 100 bikes departing from Yorkdale Mall around 10:30am and arriving at Square One about 30 minutes later.
Once again, Peel Regional Police were on hand to assist and controlled an intersection for us as we all rolled in together. Rogers Cable TV was there to do some interviews, which will be aired in the Brampton/Mississauga area on Tuesday May 19th, 2009 at 6pm.
The reporter was able to get her interviews done with an ever-growing mass of bikes in the background before she was asked to leave by security due to a standing rule by mall management about news crews filming on the property. She relocated herself to near the highway to film us riding off on the start of our ride and by that point we had well over 200 bikes.
Thanks to all those who volunteered to lead the smaller groups along the route to Orangeville and beyond to Woodbridge. I would also like to thank our support team from MotoLimo.com for giving up their Sunday and showing up with two support trucks should anyone need their services.
In the end, not a single incident occurred and no real mechanical issues were to be had either. Everyone had a great day and although the pace set by the leaders may of been a bit on the slow side for some riders, I would say that everyone enjoyed themselves regardless.
This was a great day, we made ourselves seen on the roads and most importantly…we all had fun.
