Do drivers in red cars get more traffic tickets?
This may well be a common belief among many drivers and a belief that people have uttered for years. But do they really? No, not really. I’ve often said, “It’s not what you drive, but how you drive it”; something I’ve said to many of my student drivers for over six years.
This false belief is largely based on the fact that red cars catch the eye of the police more than other cars. Well, yellow is also very eye-catching but the myth doesn’t seem to apply to them. Why not? Simply put, red is a sporty colour and a favoured colour for “sporty” drivers. But once again, it’s how you drive it.
